Unless you set otherwise, the URL format default in WordPress is **http://example.com/?p=123.**
In addition to not being good for your SEO, it also is hard for people to remember or type if they need to.
Thankfully you can change the settings to use “Pretty Permalinks” instead. This is the term for the URL structure you’re probably used to seeing.
Without Pretty Permalinks
– Your About page URL might be: example.com/?p=12348
With Pretty Permalinks
– your About page URL is now: example.com/about
How to update this setting:
- From your dashboard, go to Settings>Permalinks
- Common Settings>“Post Name“
- Save!
